About John T. Loughney

John T. Loughney is a Maryland attorney specializing in civil litigation. His practice is focused on family law matters, including divorce, custody, guardianship, adoption, de facto parenthood, and domestic violence.

John graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a degree in French and went on to law school at the College of William & Mary, where he worked on the Economic Law & Policy Review, Election Law Blog, and the Institute of Bill of Rights Law. During law school, he also interned for Judge Sally Adkins of the Maryland Court of Appeals, where he briefed cases at the highest level of appellate review in Maryland, and in the Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, where he worked in financial regulation.

As a practicing attorney, John represented many clients pro bono at the Southern Maryland Center for Family Advocacy before entering private practice and expanding into general civil litigation, including personal injury cases. At Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher, he handles a diverse caseload that includes divorce, custody, domestic violence, CINA, property, trusts & estates, contract, and other complex litigation.
