Upper Marlboro Disciplinary Action Lawyers

Maryland Professional Misconduct Defense Attorneys

Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher (SCB) provides representation to attorneys and other professionals in disciplinary actions, corresponding on their behalf and representing them in front of professional licensing boards, bar associations, administrative boards, and the Maryland Court of Appeals.

Representation before the Maryland Bar Council

An attorney generally does not act in his or her own interest when responding to an inquiry from the Bar Council or to a charge of misconduct during a disciplinary action. SCB has extensive experience in that area. A carefully constructed response to a preliminary letter of inquiry will often prevent the matter from going beyond the initial screening process. Our firm has handled matters including those involving charges of commingling of funds, conflict of interest, failure to communicate with a client, and unprofessional conduct. If you have received a letter from the Bar Council inquiring about a complaint, are involved in an ongoing investigation, or have been censured in a disciplinary action, and would like to discuss a remedy with a member of our firm, please contact our Upper Marlboro offices to arrange a conference with a member of our firm.

Hospital credentialing disputes and malpractice defense

Lawyers at SCB represent hospitals in defense of medical malpractice claims and in credentialing disputes with doctors, supporting the credentials committee, medical executive committee, and members of the governing board in protecting patients and the organizations through responsible credentialing decisions.

SCB accepts Visa and MasterCard. These credit cards may be used to pay for legal work previously performed and expenses incurred by the firm for the client. But there are ethical restrictions on the acceptance of credit card payments for retainer fees (i.e., advance payment for work or expenses to be performed or incurred). Because of those restrictions, SCB cannot accept credit card payments for retainers and other advance payments. (For further details, see Maryland State Bar Ass'n, Ethics Docket 02-23 (Acceptance of Credit Card Payment as Retainer)).
