Upper Marlboro Defective Product Lawyers

Maryland Electrocution Injury Attorneys Serving Prince Georges County and Other Areas

State and federal product liability laws hold manufacturers and distributors responsible for injuries caused by dangerous or defective products. If a manufacturer continues to market a product when there is a known danger, a jury may award victims punitive damages in addition to compensation for medical expenses and pain and suffering. Our attorneys have litigated hundreds of product liability cases on behalf of those who have been injured but also on behalf of manufacturers and insurance companies.

Do I have a case?

If you feel a defective product caused your injury, it is important to have a lawyer with experience in products liability law begin an investigation at the earliest opportunity, while evidence of poor design, improper labeling, or a manufacturing defect is available. At Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher (SCB) attorneys work closely with accident investigators and scientific experts to assemble proof that a product defect caused an injury. If you would like to speak to one of our lawyers about your situation, please contact our Upper Marlboro office to arrange a free consultation.

Examples of product liability claims

Not every injury related to a broken tool or tire blowout entitles the victim to a personal injury or wrongful death claim against the manufacturer or distributor. However, the following are examples of product liability claims:

  • A child toy, infant car seat, stroller, baby furniture, or other equipment intended for use by children caused an injury. Injuries caused by dangerous toys and other equipment range from amputation of a finger to death.
  • A man touched a defective electric sign and suffered electrocution. (This case also involved a premises liability.)
  • Home appliances, including gas furnaces, stoves, and heaters caused injuries ranging from asphyxiation to burn injuries.
  • Tainted peanut butter caused salmonella, a food-born illness that can be fatal.
  • Defective auto equipment caused a car accident or truck accident

SCB accepts Visa and MasterCard. These credit cards may be used to pay for legal work previously performed and expenses incurred by the firm for the client. But there are ethical restrictions on the acceptance of credit card payments for retainer fees (i.e., advance payment for work or expenses to be performed or incurred). Because of those restrictions, SCB cannot accept credit card payments for retainers and other advance payments. (For further details, see Maryland State Bar Ass'n, Ethics Docket 02-23 (Acceptance of Credit Card Payment as Retainer)).
