Upper Marlboro Criminal Law Attorneys
Prince George's County DUI/DWI Lawyers
At Sasscer, Clagett & Bucher (SCB), our criminal law practice includes several former prosecutors, all of whom have handled high-profile criminal cases. Several of our criminal defense lawyers have been repeatedly featured in national media outlets such as The Washington Post.
One member of our criminal defense team, Mark Foley, was selected as a special prosecutor in a Montgomery County murder case when he was a member of the Prince George's County prosecutor's office. Another member of our criminal defense team, Thomas Tom McManus, successfully prosecuted notorious felon Willie Horton after he committed assault, armed robbery and rape while out of prison on a weekend furlough program. Jeff Harding, as a senior trial attorney in the Homicide Unit for Prince George's County handled dozens of high profile cases that were followed by national and local news stations.

Thorough investigation, preparation, and creativity
Our lawyers rely on thorough examination of the facts, creative defense strategies, and exceptional skill at trial to see that our clients' cases result in the most beneficial outcomes possible. That approach is the hallmark of our criminal law practice, whether a case involves misdemeanor or felony charges.
What is my defense?
Our attorneys will explain exactly what your situation is, carefully examine all records and evidence being used by the prosecution to build a case against you, and craft a unique defense based on the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime. In a drug possession or drug trafficking case, the attorneys may demonstrate illegal search and seizure. If the charge is drunk driving, they may demonstrate that there was no probable cause for the traffic stop. If it is in your best interests to accept a plea bargain, they will explain what, in their opinion, your chance of success at trial will be.
At SCB we support our clients through every stage of the criminal law process, from arraignment through federal and state appeals. We are prepared to provide a defense against a broad range of charges, including the following:
- Drunk driving

- Theft, burglary, robbery, shoplifting, auto theft, grand larceny

SCB accepts Visa and MasterCard. These credit cards may be used to pay for legal work previously performed and expenses incurred by the firm for the client. But there are ethical restrictions on the acceptance of credit card payments for retainer fees (i.e., advance payment for work or expenses to be performed or incurred). Because of those restrictions, SCB cannot accept credit card payments for retainers and other advance payments. (For further details, see Maryland State Bar Ass'n, Ethics Docket 02-23 (Acceptance of Credit Card Payment as Retainer)).
